We will begin 2010 learning about Geometry. There are lots of vocabulary in this unit. Students will be keeping a vocabulary log that they may want to review nightly. A great web site for students to practice their math skills is www.eharcourtschool.com. Your child's usernames and passwords should be in their agendas. The first thing we do during our math period is a facts drill. Students then are given some review problems from the previous day or some CRCT review problems. After going over these problems, homework is checked and discussed. Sometimes the students grade their own papers or grade each other's. Sometimes I take the papers and grade them. ( Homework is not given on Fridays unless students don't finish with the shortened assignment in class. Also, students will not have homework on the night of a math test. Students are awarded homework passes if they make 100 on their math tests.) Finally, I introduce the math lesson for the day. We may do some hands-on activities or see the lesson on Harcourt's web site. We do practice problems together, and then students are assigned homework to start on in class and finish at home.
